Professor Tristan Barrett
Associate Professor in Radiology & Consultant Radiologist
Professor Tristan Barrett is Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Cambridge and an Honorary NHS Consultant Radiologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. He has served as clinical lead for uroradiology and as Director of the Cambridge Academic Radiology Programme, and currently chairs the British Society of Urogenital Radiology (BSUR).
Professor Barrett’s primary research interest is prostate cancer, with a particular focus on multi-parametric MRI techniques for identifying and characterising prostate tumours. He is internationally recognised in this field, having published over 130 peer-reviewed research articles and delivered invited lectures and workshops for societies including the Royal Society of Medicine, RSNA, ECR, ESUR, BSUR, BIR and the Royal College of Radiologists, as well as at national meetings in Japan, Russia, Hungary, Ireland, and China.
In 2022, Professor Barrett was awarded the Royal College of Radiologists Roentgen Professorship and the European School of Radiology Nicholas Gourtsoyiannis Teaching Fellowship. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority and has been actively involved in advancing the use of artificial intelligence to improve prostate MRI quality across NHS institutions.
