Graham Tytherleigh-Strong
Mr Graham Tytherleigh-Strong is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years of specialised experience in shoulder and elbow conditions. His particular expertise lies in arthroscopic shoulder surgery, encompassing the management of complex instability, rotator cuff disease, revision surgery, primary arthroplasty and sternoclavicular joint problems.
Mr Tytherleigh-Strong’s clinical interests span a wide range of shoulder and elbow conditions, including ongoing shoulder issues, sports injuries, shoulder instability and arthritis. He has pioneered an arthroscopic procedure to treat various sternoclavicular joint conditions, including arthritis and instability, demonstrating his commitment to innovative surgical techniques.
Educated at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, Mr Tytherleigh-Strong qualified as a doctor in 1990. His postgraduate training included general surgical training in London and Cambridge, where he also spent a year teaching Anatomy and conducting research at Cambridge University. He completed his specialist training in Orthopaedics and Trauma in Edinburgh.

Mr Tytherleigh-Strong further honed his skills through specialised fellowships in Shoulder & Elbow surgery and Sports Surgery, spending three months in Turin and 18 months in Toronto.
These experiences provided him with expertise in minimal access and keyhole surgical techniques, as well as insight into the treatment of elite-level athletes.
Since 2002, Mr Tytherleigh-Strong has served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, part of the Cambridge University Hospitals Trust. In 2004, he was appointed as an Honorary Clinical Fellow of Cambridge University.
Mr Tytherleigh-Strong is actively involved in clinical and basic science research, focusing on complex shoulder instability, biologics for rotator cuff repair, and sternoclavicular joint arthritis and instability. He regularly lectures and teaches on shoulder surgery both nationally and internationally, and has published widely in peer-reviewed medical journals.
His surgical practice includes routine shoulder instability surgery (including arthroscopic bone block procedures), rotator cuff repairs (including biological patches), arthroscopic elbow surgery, shoulder replacements, and fracture surgery. He is also one of few surgeons who perform arthroscopic scapulothoracic surgery, primarily for snapping scapula.
Mr Tytherleigh-Strong’s expertise extends to sports injuries, treating athletes ranging from recreational to elite levels. He currently serves as the orthopaedic surgeon for the Cambridge University men’s and women’s Blues Rugby teams.
Academically, Mr Tytherleigh-Strong is deeply involved in research and education. He is an Honorary Clinical Fellow of Cambridge University, actively participates in multiple research studies, and reviews scientific articles for prominent journals in his field. He is also a member of the research committee of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society.

Mr Graham Tytherleigh-Strong has a financial interest in the practice as he holds a directorship position and a significant shareholding (>5%) in Momentm Health Limited; Momentm Health Limited owns all equipment.
Mr Tytherleigh-Strong’s commitment to education is evident in his regular teaching of undergraduate, postgraduate and allied health professionals. He is a founder member of the Watanabe Group, which organises arthroscopic shoulder surgery training courses, and he frequently conducts ‘live-surgery’ demonstrations at national and international conferences.
His professional memberships include the British Medical Association, British Orthopaedic Association, British Elbow & Shoulder Society, European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder & Elbow, Royal College of Surgeons, British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma Association, and the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine.
Prior to his medical career, Mr Tytherleigh-Strong served in the British Army with the Blues & Royals, undertaking a Short Service Limited Commission in the UK, Germany, and Canada.
