Rhys Slough
Rhys Slough MSc., BSc. (Hons), is a highly experienced healthcare professional with a background in radiography and a strong focus on healthcare management, improvement, and transformation. Beginning his career as a Radiographer, Rhys has progressively taken on leadership roles, demonstrating expertise in organisational operations, strategy, and service improvement within the NHS.
As a qualified improvement coach accredited by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Rhys excels in communication, problem-solving, project management, and change management. His experience spans multiple senior management positions, where he has successfully led complex system-wide services and processes, resulting in significant improvements in patient care and operational efficiency.
Rhys has made notable contributions to several key NHS initiatives. He played a crucial role in the high-volume, low-complexity (HVLC) programme, a vital component of the elective care recovery strategy. His work on this project included critical analysis of job planning, resource management, and business planning, as well as providing improvement methodology and data insights.

With a strong academic background, including an MSc in Medical Imaging (MRI) from Cumbria University, Rhys continues to contribute to the field through research and education. He has published multiple research papers, with over 500 citations across 17 publications, demonstrating his ability to focus on relevant and impactful areas of healthcare research.
In the realm of digital transformation, Rhys led the creation of an in-house electronic pre-operative assessment using CUH’s patient portal ‘MyChart.’, enabling patients to complete this vital pre-operative process from the comfort of their own home.
He has also been instrumental in developing strategies and implementing CUH’s award winning virtual ward. Rhys held a critical role in the strategic development and deployment of the CUH’s award winning virtual ward. Furthermore, a successful teledermatology pathway that improved clinical capacity and patient experience, by delivering telemedicine to the Cambridgeshire area.
One of Rhys’ significant achievements was enabling the Ely day surgery unit to be the first in the nation to offer a specialised urology procedure (HoLEP) in a remote surgical site, increasing the activity rate by 15% accelerating the recovery of elective care allowing patients to get the life-changing care they need sooner.
Rhys’ expertise extends both to regional and national levels. He has represented the East of England at national workforce advisory groups and imaging optimisation delivery boards.

Mr Rhys Slough has a financial interest in the practice as he holds a directorship position and a significant shareholding (>5%) in Momentm Health Limited; Momentm Health Limited owns all equipment.
Recently, he has completed fixed-term position as regional clinical MRI lead, overseeing a complex strategic transformation of MRI clinical services across the East of England.
Rhys is also committed to education and professional development, having contributed significantly to creating the East of England post-graduate MRI and CT program at the University of Suffolk. His involvement in international professional societies, including a governing board role with the International Society of Magnetic Resonance for Radiographers and Technologists, showcases his global perspective and commitment to advancing the field of radiography, a pinnacle moment being his role as international programme chair for the first post-CoVID international meeting in London 2022.
Throughout his career, Rhys has maintained a strong focus on patient safety and quality improvement. He has represented the UK’s imaging approach to COVID-19 precautions and infection control at international forums and has been involved in integrating artificial intelligence and deep learning technologies into healthcare standards.
